Due to the dynamic nature of the RTOC (Row to columns, see here for definition) transformations in the data map, this can some times lead to certain degree of unpredictability around a passes header signature. Subsequent passes many times have dependent calculations that require a certain level of header predictability. Thus the reason for the fixed header enhancement.
The fixed header is an optional configuration. It allows a comma delimited list of header values to be defined in the Auto Header Override field. Any header values that are provided in the list will be references against the inbound data set. If the header value does not exist, than it will be created providing a placeholder. This will ensure that header will always exist despite what is being derived from the inbound data set. The net result of this prevents any of your subsequent pass code from breaking.
See following depiction for a visual example.
This functionality is available starting in DBObjects 1.4.5 or higher or 106 pack or higher.
