I think we should add into our upgrade tasks backing up the config tables so we at least have the code saved off somewhere. And actually we should consider backing up ALL of our config tables, outside of the normal backups so there is a copy available at all times, that wouldn't get overwritten by nightly backups.

Team,
I know we had a long email thread on this, but I want to reply to Phil's original email. In a nut shell, we mentioned that upgrading to the latest version should solve the disappearing code issue. I still believe that, but I would like to point out what I just experienced at a customer after an upgrade. Code disappeared on me, but in both feeds across instances. We've always had the same feed in the other instance to get the missing code from. Here's the difference in my case and why I think the upgrade will still work. I upgraded dev to the latest version, but prod is at a much older version. I think the two environments/instances being out of synch and at much different versions has caused this new code disappearing act. I added a line of code in the Source Tab in Feed A in the dev instance. Here's what happened across instances. Line 1/Seq 1 was replaced with Line 2/Seq 2 in both Feeds across instances. Therefore, I completely lost Line 1/Seq 1 and now have a duplication of Line 2/Seq 2 in each feed.
Before:
1. Line of code 1 - Seq 1
2. Line of code 2 - Seq 2
After
1. Line of code 2 - Seq 2
2. Line of code 2 - Seq 2
Note:
The line of code in blue is completely gone now in both feeds across instances, where it has been replaced/duplicated with line 2/Seq 2. This sucks because I have no idea what this line was. I'm working an an old feed that hasn't been functional in over a year. It's an involved feed. No telling how long it will take me to figure out the missing line of code. Oh well!
Thanks,
Jerry

Subject: Disappearing Code
Gents,
I have witnessed disappearing lines of code at different customers.
At my current customer, I am running 1.8.3 Config builder.
I've seen remote queries disappear as well as Mapping steps to feeds that haven't been changed in 6 months or longer.
I actually ran into this last week, because a feed was failing do to steps disappearing. I fixed it, and it happened again.
I'm not sure what is causing it, but I'm certainly glad I have a backup of my feeds to go find the missing code and reintegrate into production.
So...my question is:
1) Have you also witnessed this?
2) Will an upgrade fix it?
Tuan has also witnessed this elsewhere I believe.
Please advise.
Thanks
Phil
